In light of the spreading cases of Coronavirus, High Street Surgery has taken the decision to suspend online appointment bookings until further notice. We are asking all patients to instead contact the surgery by telephone in the first instance where you can be signposted to the appropriate clinician or service.
Please do not present at reception.
We hope patients will understand that this measure is being adopted in order to protect our patients and staff alike.
Remember if you can’t make it – PLEASE cancel your appointment.
Please book one appointment for each patient who wishes to be seen.
When you telephone the surgery, the Receptionist will ask you to inform them of the reason for your appointment. This is so that they can assist you in booking you an appointment with the most appropriate clinician for your needs. For example, either a GP, Nurse Practitioner or Practice Nurse.
To see a doctor of your choice please allow 3 to 4 days. Please understand we cannot always give you the doctor of your choice as he/she may not be available. Every effort is made to ensure that you are seen on time but if for some reason there is a delay, you will be informed.
Our Practice Nurses are available by appointment for injections, diagnostic tests, smears, new patient checks, routine blood tests and blood pressure checks. We also run clinics specifically for diabetes, asthma, well baby, ante-natal, Coronary Heart Disease, hypertension and advice on stopping smoking.
If there are no face to face contact or telephone appointments left the receptionist will ask you some questions and the 'Doctor on Call' will telephone you and either give you advice over the phone or ask you to come to the surgery at an appropriate time.
Telephone appointments are only available during surgery hours.
Advice is also available from the NHS 111 service by calling 111 from your landline or mobile phone.
If you anticipate that you may require an examination by the Doctor and feel that you would like a chaperone to be present, please make reception aware at the time of booking your appointment so that this can be arranged. Alternatively bring along a member of your family or friend to your appointment.
If you are unable to attend for your appointment please tell us in good time so that we are able to offer another patient the use of that appointment.
